Client Spotlight: Zumba Love!

This week, we are so excited to have the spotlight on TWO clients!  Lauren & Lauren are die-hard Zumba with Maeve fans!  Check out what they do keep each other motivated to attend classes and stay FIT!

Thanks for letting us feature you today, ladies - we LOVE your motivation!

1.  Tell us about yourselves! How did you start working out with DanceFIT Studio? 

We met as college freshmen living across the hall from each other in the dorms at the Ohio state university in 2004.... We became fast friends and eventually roommates for our last 2 years of undergrad. Lauren F moved to Boston shortly after college graduation in 2008 for a job at Beth Israel deaconess medical center and to fill her need to be a city girl! Lauren F is a perfusionist at BIDMC... She runs the heart and lung bypass machine during open heart surgery. Lauren S stayed in Ohio for graduate school and earned her doctorate in Audiology. She's a hearing and balance doctor at Tufts medical center and specializes in pediatrics. Over their 4 years in different cities, Lauren S travelled to Boston often to visit Lauren F. Two years ago, we once again became roommates when Lauren F convinced Lauren S to join her in Boston!
We had been looking for a fun workout and decided we should try Zumba.... Neither of us had ever done it but we saw a groupon for dance fit studio and decided to give it a shot! We have since fallen in love with the classes and instructors and the rest is history!

2.  You guys come to a lot of classes together, we love this!  Why do you think it's important to find a friend to take classes with or workout in general with? 


Motivation. On days when one of us is feeling lazy or tired, the other is usually able to convince her to go to class... Once there, we never regret going!

3.  What is your favorite DanceFIT class and why? 

Our favorite dancefit class is Zumba with Maeve! It's a fabulous full body work out and you don't even realize it because you're having so much fun! Maeve is awesome and an amazing instructor!

4.  If one of you is feeling unmotivated how does the other offer support and motivation to get to class together? 


We remind each other of how far we've come and how important it is to stay on track to reach our goals!

5.  What is your best piece of fitness advice or inspiration? 

Our best piece of fitness advice is to find a workout you love. This has been key to our success at dancefit. We spent a lot of years failing at getting fit because we never wanted to go to the gym, etc. Now that we've found dancefit we look forward to going to class and naturally we are losing weight and improving our health!

6.  What's on your playlist; what songs keep you moving? 

We routinely have pandora radio playing in the house.... Usually on today's hits radio, backstreet boys radio, or 2000s hip hop radio! At Zumba, our favorites include wild wild love and drop it low girl.

7.  Being roommates, do you find it's easier to stay on track with a healthy lifestyle?  What's your favorite healthy summer recipe?

Definitely.... around the same time we started working out at dancefit we also changed to a low carb diet. It's nice to have someone to cook with, eat dinner with, and keep each other on track! One of our favorite summer dinners is chicken and veggie kabobs on the grill! It's easy, healthy, and tasty too!

8.  What do you tell your other friends and family when they ask why you love DanceFIT so much?

The first thing that usually comes out of our mouths is that it's fun! We tell them that it's an enjoyable, challenging work out, great instructors, and nice classmates too!

9.  You are Brookline regulars, what's your favorite thing about our beautiful studio space? 

Minus the lack of air conditioning, the Brookline studio is fabulous! The church is gorgeous, and the rooms are large. There are lots of windows that help keep it cool!
