Splits- Namaste! |
I know I need to spend more time taking fitness classes myself and exploring the current fitness scene, but with two kids, owning a business and teaching classes the minute the kids go to sleep and before they wake up, that never happens...if it does you can find me at Mystic Yoga in Framingham enjoying a hot yoga class or on the lake stand up paddle boarding. I am in the process of designing a DanceFIT class on boards....I wipe out a lot, but I am having a blast doing it. The paddle makes a great free standing barre, and the board is the perfect platform for planks, hundreds, wheels...and more. A large part of SUP is balance. Your leg muscles will be hard at work attempting to maintain your balance. This is fun and a new challenge for me!
SUP is very relaxing and a great way to relieve stress. Once I get out on the water and start paddling, I can literally feel my body and mind relaxing as I get into the paddling rhythm. It is also a great workout. It burns up to 500 calories an hour and is relatively low impact on your body. Therefore, it is unlikely that you will do damage to the tendons and ligaments of your joints. SUP is particularly useful for runners that are experiencing shin splints or knee and hip pain.

Have you tried paddle boarding? Tell me about it! What DanceFIT move would you like to see me incorporate on the board?
