Lisa & Gina after a class at DanceFIT Studio! |
Tell us about yourself. How did you start working out with DanceFIT?
I spend the majority of my weeks on the road for work, so when I first moved to Boston, I had little time to find a gym that I liked. Truthfully, I had let a lot of things I love to do go when I took a job that kept me on the road so much. I am lucky to have the DanceFIT Studio right in my own backyard, so after walking past the studio so many times and seeing gals going in and out with yoga mats, I knew I had to check it out. I grabbed the information from the sign out front, did my research, attended my first class, and haven't stopped going back since last September! This one small step to improving my overall health led me to start assessing other aspects of my life that I had "let go" too. Check out my blog at www.theunwedhousewife.com to learn more about how I've infused the things I love back into my life! You can also follow me on Facebook at facebook.com/UnwedHousewife.
How has working out with DanceFIT changed your workout routine?
Because of my heavy travel schedule, I was spending a lot of time in hotel gyms on a treadmill. Needless to say, this got boring fast and I almost completely stopped exercising for a couple of years. I have always preferred group exercise classes, but was disappointed that I am not home enough to really participate in them. DanceFIT changed all of that for me. When I'm home, it's a treat and pleasure to go to the beautiful studio. However, when I am not home, I can take Virtual DanceFIT classes from my hotel room. I LOVE it! It has re-empowered me to take control of my fitness and health again, no matter where my travels take me.
What songs on your playlist keep you motivated during a workout?
Anything fun and upbeat. Right now, I cannot get enough of Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines." The beat automatically gets you moving.
What is your favorite DanceFIT class and why?
BalletFIT Cardio is by far my favorite. It covers every muscle group, keeps your heart pumping for the whole class, and changes so quickly that it never gets boring. I also must admit that my inner child likes feeling like a ballerina.
Tell our readers what your favorite go-to pre-workout snack is!
Pre-workout, I like to have something high protein like a fruit smoothie with greek yogurt or even just a bowl of tuna fish (which I make with light mayo and olive juice to keep the fat content down. So Yum!).
What is your best piece of fitness advice or inspiration?
One of my favorite inspirational quotes is, "It's better to fail spectacularly than to settle." When it comes to fitness, it's worth taking the risk and trying something new or pushing a little harder than you thought you could. Even if you look silly trying or you can't hold that difficult plank for as long as you thought, just taking the first steps and trying means you'll never settle for the minimum when it comes to your own health.
What is your FIT fashion? What do you usually wear for workouts?
My go-to FIT fashion always includes a pair of cute yoga shorts and a fun top. Everything I own has bright colors, even my sneakers! It's amazing how feeling cute while you workout can make you feel great about yourself and work just a little harder. I joke with my friends that my fitness wardrobe is getting larger than my regular wardrobe!
What do you tell your friends and family when they ask about why you love DanceFIT so much?
I tell them I love DanceFIT because it fits into my life so well. For so many years, I had told myself I couldn't make fitness a priority because of my job. Now, my family and friends see how easy DanceFIT has made it for me to stay on top of my fitness and get back to a better place both physically and emotionally. The ladies at DanceFIT are all so accommodating, encouraging, and kind. It's not like going to a regular gym. It's like going to have fun and get fit with your girlfriends.
