Forever a dance teacher

Teaching dance was something I wanted to do from a very young age.

It is just in my blood to teach.

From a young age, I was always asking my ballet teachers if I could assist them.  I would play "ballet class" at home and teach my sisters and stuffed animals. I lined chairs up to create a barre and would make my sisters call me Miss Gina (they hated doing that!). I would make up combinations in my sleep. I saw myself as becoming a great role model as I had so many great role models in my life. Teaching, for me, was really a way to create art.

DanceFIT Pre-Ballet
Recently I ran a report in our registration system out of curiosity to see how many classes I personally taught since last September.  I was surprised at how many classes it had been!

I opened the question to the public on facebook to guess how many classes.....The answer....

787 classes!

People often ask me my favorite "age" to teach or what I love teaching the most? I don't have an answer, I love the balance of teaching kids & adults.

DanceFIT Pre-Ballet
I love watching little ballerinas step foot in the studio for the first time.
I love helping a dancer position her feet properly, lift her chin with confidence and smile in her arabesque!
I love the proud feeling of watching the dancers on stage at the end of the school year.
I love the little toddlers who prance into the studio and just give us huge hugs and think I am Cinderella!
I love that I have 6 versions of the hokey pokey in my itunes library.

DanceFIT Studio Recital Day Pre-Ballet II

I love when our adult fitness clients tell me how much energy they have from a workout or how flexible they are!
I love when our clients tell me they are so sore....in a good way!
I love when a client tags me on facebook to say she felt great in a swimsuit at the beach.
I love designing my classes. (Yes, even after 778 classes you still have to plan, plan, plan!)
I love pushing the adult clients to do more reps.
I love making them do two 90 second planks in a row! (like last night in pilates with props!)

My teaching dream has turned into reality, and I am very grateful I have such dedicated clients, a supportive husband & two little boys who allow me to teach 787 classes this past year.  :) For those of you who thought I taught more than 1,000 classes.....you give me something to aspire to!

This was the most adorable post I have read ever :) Gina, your smile is contagious -- even when I'm doing burpees.. Wish I could be a pre-ballerina in one of your classes. You are SUCH a joy!
