DanceFIT Studio Client Spotlight: Courtney!

This week, our client spotlight is on Courtney Patrick!  Courtney is  DanceFIT Studio veteran!  She has been attending classes in studio and virtually since 2008!  Meet Courtney and find out why DanceFIT and 6FIT has worked for her!

1. Tell us about yourself.  How did you start working out with DanceFIT?

I started working out with DanceFIT way back in 2008!  Dance had always been some part of my life until I moved to Boston in 2006, and I was really missing it.  I started researching Dance Studio’s online that were near where I lived and DanceFIT really caught my eye- I liked the idea of fusing dance and fitness.  I began with Twyla’s Hip Hop and Abs class, then Gina’s strength training classes, and the more classes DanceFIT added, the more I took- the rest is history!

2.  How has working out with DanceFIT changed your workout routine?

I have always been into working out; I think I’ve tried everything. I would often pick one thing and do it for a long time and then get bored with it- like spinning, gym cardio and weight machines, or swimming.  I never felt like I got a good whole body benefit with what I was doing. I would do really well with cardio and forget strength, or really good strength training and forget cardio. DanceFIT combines both with variety, and in a fun environment with supportive classmates.

3.  What songs on your playlist keep you motivated during a workout?

I always find Rihanna to have good workout music, anything upbeat and fast- Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake are also two favorite go to’s.

4.  What is your favorite DanceFIT class and why?

Picking one favorite DanceFIT class seems impossible! I will narrow it down to three, but truly I love them all.

1. BalletFIT Cardio- I love this class because it combines my love for Ballet, and pushes me beyond what I think are my limits- I love working hard and surprising myself with what I’m really capable of.
2. Zumba and Zumba with Abs- I never feel like I’m working out in this class, and I always walk away smiling and drenched in sweat.  Who wouldn’t love an hour dance party with friends that actually torches calories? Plus I like to let out my inner Spanish dancer even though I know I never really look like one : )
3. BalletFIT Tone & Stretch- This class is by far my favorite way to start a Saturday.  By the end of the week I am sore and tired but I want to put in one more day. This class tones all of the right areas but on a much calmer level, and by 9am you’re refreshed and ready to conquer the weekend!

5.  Tell our readers what your favorite go-to pre-workout snack is!

One of my favorite go-to pre-workout snacks is ½ cup Greek or lactose free yogurt with     ¼ cup all natural granola and a serving of fresh fruit!

6.  What is your best piece of fitness advice or inspiration?

My best piece of fitness advice is a quote from someone who I no longer like to represent, but his saying gets me through so many things
“ Pain is temporary. Quitting lasts forever” – Lance Armstrong.
When I think of this quote I am not thinking pain in the way of injury, but pain in the sense that  I feel like something is too hard and I can’t do it- like finish running a race, and how mad I will be at myself if I don’t try and accomplish it.

7.  What is your FIT fashion?  What do you usually wear for workouts?

My FIT fashion is a mixture! I love Target, Gap body, and Lululemon. I think Target and Gap have some great pieces especially sports bra’s and tops that I wear daily, but Lululemon although costly seems to last the longest- I LOVE their capris and shorts!

8.  What do you tell your friends and family when they ask about why you love DanceFIT so much?

I tell my family that it has changed how I think about fitness, that it makes it fun and not a chore.  DanceFIT offers so many options for all different people and lifestyles, and has truly been the one key to my weight loss and body toning success.

9. Tell us about your 6FIT success!

I am really good about working out at DanceFIT because to be honest in my mind I’ve paid for the classes so I don’t want to lose my money, and I often tell classmates I will see them in class the next day or the next week, so I find it very hard to skip.  When it comes to food, although I eat extremely healthy no one is really keeping tabs on how much I’m eating or the weekend splurges that become too many.  6FIT not only gives me a community to share my daily meals with, but also challenges me to see what works for my body. I had tried all the fad diets and cleanses, logging my food on my own, but nothing had ever worked for me consistently like 6FIT.  Since I started 6FIT with the first one they held, it has become a way of life for me and I always know how to get back on track if those weekend indulgences do start taking over! 6FIT gave me ideas and tips on how to incorporate fruit and veggies into every meal, drink the right amount of water, and most importantly to finally put me first no matter how busy the day or week -and I don’t think I would ever do that on my own.
Thank you for letting us feature you, Courtney!  You are truly a health and fitness inspiration!
