HOT balletFIT™: New England's First Heated Barre Class

DanceFIT Studio's new Natick location is the home of the first HOT balletFIT class in New England.* BalletFIT is Gina's signature workout in a 90 degree room! At DanceFIT, it is summer year round!

Recently inquiries have asked...."Why heated? How hot does it get? Do you still dance in the hot room? Is it all toning? Is it hard? I can't do ballet! I am not graceful! Do I have to wear a leotard? Is it a good workout? I like hot yoga, will I like this? I am guy, do dudes do this? I am not flexible, should I try it?"

DanceFIT Studio's first location is located in Brookline MA is out of the beautiful Church Of Our Saviour, a beautiful stone church near Fenway Park. The space is a ballet dream with high ceilings, many windows, a stage and a beautiful,  peaceful, comfortable and friendly fitness atmosphere. The summers are HOT to say the least. Summer nights are between 80-90 degrees. Instead of our clients running far away in the other direction, they sweat, jumped, stretched and danced their hearts out!

This was our inspiration for our new Natick studio! The heat aids in detoxifying the body and stretching & lengthening your muscles.  The room usually begins at about 88 degrees and never goes above 92 degrees.  You don't need to know how to dance or have any previous knowledge of ballet, but you have to be ready to step out of your comfort zone & learn.  We will teach you ballet steps, simple choreography and you will leave feeling graceful, lifted, toned & smarter! (You will learn some ballet French words).  The upbeat ballet music will bring out your inner ballerina strength & beauty.  HOT balletFIT is intense, you will be jumping in the heat; first position jumps, second position jumps, echappees, changements, chassees, assembles (see...the ballet language will appear).  Are you nervous, don't be! It is a lot of fun, you will be laughing, sweating, crying and having blast! We teach you step by step so you have nothing to be nervous about.

If you take balletFIT, you have to have a good sense of humor!!!

Leotards, ballet skirts, legwarmers, warmies....if you want to wear it, wear it :) We recommend clothes that are fitted and can breathe well.  Ballet shoes are recommended, but grippy socks work great too.

Is it like hot yoga? Yes & no. You reap the same stretching benefits of yoga in a heated room and you will see some familiar postures like eagle, dancer pose, warriors, etc, but we don't move through a yoga flow and it is a ballet class.  As a ballerina, yoga is the perfect cross training for dance. Many ballerinas do yoga and derive physical, mental and spiritual benefits as a result.

Guys, man up! Ballet is incredibly athletic, artistic, challenging and a great workout. This workout is in no way "girly."

Lastly, if you say you are not flexible, this is the class for you! We use the barre to find amazing stretches in our hips, hamstrings, calves, back, etc.  Although it might not be too comfortable in the beginning your body will start to crave it.

*to the best of our knowledge & research.
