It's one way to burn calories and help you lose weight
It makes your heart strong so that it doesn't have to work as hard to pump blood
It increases your lung capacity
It helps reduce risk of heart attack, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes
It makes you feel good
It helps you sleep better
It helps reduce stress

Fitness Magazine has some great cardio workouts listed here, whether you are indoors out outside.  Check them out here: http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/workout/cardio/our-best-cardio-workouts/

The 14 minute workout is your best friend when you are looking to get in some quick cardio.  High Intensity Interval Training burns a lot of calories in a short amount of time and you will feel great after.  Looking for something longer than 14 minutes?  Do it twice for a complete workout!

So you're on day 2 of the water detox.  Some of you might be suffering from headaches or you might be feeling grouchy without your coffee, tea, or other caffeinated beverages, but it will pass!
Having trouble getting your water intake in?  Try some of these tips:

  • Carry your water bottle with you at all times and fill it up whenever it's empty.  You will be surprised how much water you drink if it's always full and sitting right in front of you.
  • Dress it up.  Add berries, lemon/lime, kiwi or other fruit to give your water a little taste.  Here are some fun water "recipes":  http://www.theyummylife.com/Flavored_Water  (Also, look how pretty it is!)
  • Have a glass or 2 of water as soon as you wake up.  It will help to start your day off right and since we are only drinking 1 cup of coffee or tea in the morning, it might help to curb your headaches too.
